Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers


University of Washington GEAR UP Educator Developement Initiative (EDI) offers professional development to educators who serve GEAR UP students and their families. Our program targets the national GEAR UP objectives to increase the academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education for GEAR UP students; to increase the rate of high school graduation and participation in postsecondary education for GEAR UP students, and to increase GEAR UP students’ and their families knowledge of postsecondary education options, preparation and financing.

National Science Resource Center

High-quality professional development is an essential component of an effective science education program. As teachers’ understanding of science and pedagogy increases, they become more able to engage young minds in the sciences.

Self-directed, flexible, and FREE online professional development certificate programs for K-12 teachers in Robotics, Statistics, Project-Based Inquiry Learning, and Technology Integration.

ESD 105

In the spirit of supporting teaching and learning, ESD 105’s Science Source offers a variety of information for educators. This site is designed to enhance K-12 Science programs by connecting teachers and administrators to resources, professional development, and to other educators in the science education community in ESD 105 and the State of Washington.
